A note from the seller: Small business owner with a hardcore, sometimes neurotic, passion to repurpose, relove, remake, refinish, and redo furniture and home accessories into décor that will make people smile every time they see it. I laugh hard, love hard and live free. I am one grateful and blessed babe.

About the Seller

Gravel Road Home
Gravel Road Home symbolizes my Midwest, small town, country farm upbringing. My hometown is Geneva, Indiana: population about 1300. But we actually lived five miles outside of this small town. So I grew up on an 80-acre farm and traveled down gravel roads everyday. In 2001, my husband Jimmy and I purchased a 1920's home and started refurbishing it inside and out. We wanted to honor the house's history while giving it our modern flair. So my grandmother's dresser was converted into the bath vanity. One of the home's original six panel doors was repurposed into a headboard. Old nine panel windows replaced cabinet doors. Exterior bricks removed cabinet doors. Exterior bricks removed for a garage edition were recycled into a brick sidewalk. And thus began my obsession with repurposing, reusing, redoing, remaking, and reclaiming. Soon our three children: Madeline, Ethan, and Noah, were repurposing and refurnishing items as 4-H exhibits. I would strategically suggest various items on my house or interior to-do list as potential 4-H projects. Our home gained some great home furnishings and the kids learned how to build, prep, paint, stain, make a plan B, be creative and finish a project. Many a summer were spent with the entire family in the garage, working on projects together. As the repurposing obsession led to a business, I found myself traveling those old familiar gravel roads to estate sales, auctions, country barn sales and vintage shops. I wanted the business to reflect my love of quality craftsmanship, finding beautiful pieces with rich patinas, interesting backstories, and classic American goodness. Thank you for choosing Gravel Road Home. We appreciate your business and will always strive to uphold our commitment to provide great service and quality items for your home from our Gravel Road Home.

Questions & Answers

I love your items but already have that piece. Can you make mine look that awesome?

We love custom work! If you have a dresser, desk, table, or mother-in-law's-passed-down-piece and don't love it, we are here to change that love-hate relationship (with your furniture, not your in-laws). Contact us at info.gravelroadhome@gmail.com and we can get started on the makeover.

I am a touchy-feely person. Do you have a retail store I can visit?

Though we do not have a traditional "brick and mortar" store, we are vendors in two great shops. In Berne, Indiana at Cuckoo & Co 117 W Main St and in Geneva, Indiana at The Slanted Mercantile at 100 W Line St. Also find upcoming events Gravel Road Home will be in by checking out the LOCAL link, and if you come to one of those events, we will give your touchy-feely self a hug.

I recognize some of those pieces as I have one similar to it that you might like. Do you purchase or buy my stuff?

Actually we have a really cool program called U-Turn. You can donate items to Gravel Road Home and designate a charitable organization that will receive 10% of the item's sale price. We donate our time and talent to repurpose, refinish or relove the piece. It is a great way to "give". Previous U-Turn donation recipients include Honor Flight, Boys Scouts troops, county 4-H programs, Riley's Children's Hospital, and local food pantries and youth organizations.

So most of your pieces are vintage or repurposed from "old" stuff. Is it in good condition?

We carefully repair and/or restore as much as possible before we create the magical transformation. Sometimes prior "fixes" are just part of the piece's history and story. We do our best to offer quality pieces with the understanding that sometimes you can't completely turn back time and be "young" again. Man, don't we wish we had that DeLorean and could go back to the future!

I found something really fabulous on Pinterest. Can you create a Pin for me?

First of all, let's agree Pinterest is awesome! Second, we will be honest if we are confident the job is in our wheelhouse of expertise. If it is not, we know people. We are sure we or some of our fellow super-talented, professional, artisan friends can make it happen. #pinterrific
